Rescue Spotlight: Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation

A few weeks ago, I took a trip down to the  Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation Ranch in Sumerduck, VA. I wanted to capture some images of life at the ranch, and some updated shots of the animals looking for forever homes. It’s always bittersweet seeing dogs at a rescue shelter. There’s no way around the fact that a cage is not an ideal way to live. But to know that these animals were saved from far worse situations is heartening. And I was glad to see that the dog kennels extended from inside to outside and the dogs were free to move in and out at their discretion. The staff there is wonderful and I know the animals are well cared for and loved. Read more →

Meet Agent Cooper

Our family is fostering a sweet but very shy Beagle/Dachshund mix until we can find him a loving home. Agent Cooper is only 2.5 but he’s had a rough life, having been rescued six months ago only to have his mom pass away suddenly last weekend. In the short time we’ve had Cooper, we’ve become quite attached to him. Despite his shyness, he’s not at all territorial. He lets us pet him (even our 18-month old toddler) and pick him up without a peep. In fact, he hasn’t barked once (a welcome change in our house). He really perks up when we go on our walks around the neighborhood, and we see glimpses of the joy that every dog deserves. Read more →
