Critters (and Couture) for the Cure

Last Thursday, we attended Critters (and Couture) for the Cure, a wonderful event to raise women’s cancer awareness and much-needed funds.  Women cancer survivors and their furry companions worked the ‘catwalk’ in spring fashions by Bloomingdale’s, along with Doggie Couture of New York. Critters for the Cure was created to promote breast cancer awareness through the love of critters. We’re excited to work with CftC on some projects this year! Read more →

Critters (and Couture) for the Cure

Last week I attended an inspiring event honoring female cancer survivors. Critters (and Couture) for the Cure was held at Bloomingdale’s in Chevy Chase. At the event, female cancer survivors and their critters strutted their stuff on the ‘cat’walk, and doctors from Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and Suburban Hospital were honored for their dedication to a CFTC member who recently lost her battle with cancer. It was quite an emotional evening, but very uplifting.

Critters for the Cure is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit that provides financial assistance to those fighting womens cancer, and encourages recovery through the love of critters. The Critters Patient Treatment Assistant Fund (CPTAF) allows CFTC to assist DC area women who are uninsured, underinsured, or not covered by state and federal programs receive the treatment they need to survive. CFTC differentiates itself by providing the most direct and fastest support of any womens cancer non-profit, including national organizations. Almost 90% of every dollar raised at the Gala goes directly to local women in need. Critters for the Cure founder Clancy Kress presents an “It Takes a Village” Award. Kate Michael of K Street Kate served as emcee.
