Meet Our “Diamonds in the Ruff” Tonight!

UPDATE: Unfortunately, rain has cancelled tonight’s event. You can still arrange to meet Molly, Angela, Leo or any other animals available for adoption by contacting the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

If you’re in the DC-area, be sure to stop by Barkley Square Bakery (map) tonight from 6-9pm, where they will be holding an adoption event featuring the “Diamonds in the Ruff” participants. Molly, Angela and Leo will be there along with some other animals looking for loving homes. FidoJournalism will be there too, with the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, Karing by Kristina, Barkley Square Dog Bakery & Boutique, Chios Pet Grooming, and AskMissA.com.

This event is being held in conjunction with Del Ray, Alexandria’s First Thursday. First Thursday is a monthly event where all of the businesses along Mt Vernon Ave participate in one central theme and keep their doors open until 9pm. The theme for June is Dog Days of Del Ray.

Barkley Square will also be hosting their weekly Happy Yappy Hour at this time complete with a Bark Bar full of yummy dog treats.

Diamonds in the Ruff

This morning I was thrilled to be part of the Diamonds in the Ruff Project, a collaborative effort by local businesses who went into the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria and gave special makeovers to a few lucky dogs. The hope is that by giving these dogs a new look will enhance their adoptability. The project is sponsored by Karing by Kristina, Barkley Square Dog Bakery & Boutique, Chios Pet Grooming, FidoJournalism, and AskMissA.com.

Diamonds in the Ruff is part of the DC Week for Animals. Throughout the week humane organizations, shelters, rescue groups, educational agencies and non-profit organizations across the area will be hosting wonderful animal-related special events.

The three dogs, and others, will be at Barkley Square Bakery this Thursday June 4th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the Barkley Square Patio located at 2006 Mt. Vernon Ave in Alexandria in conjunction with Alexandria’s Del Ray Business Association’s First Thursday.

We were fortunate to have our event covered by Fox 5 DC’s morning news. Holly Morris and her crew were there bright and early to show the before and after process live! We had fun today, but it will be even better if we can find loving homes for these great dogs.
