FidoJournalism Launches 5th Unconditional Love Contest
Valentine’s Day is upon us, and we are excited to launch the 5th annual FidoJournalism Unconditional Love Contest. All year we look forward to receiving heartwarming stories of love and connection between people and their pets.
If you’re new to the contest, it was initially inspired by our own mischievous dogs, who repeatedly tested our patience by chewing an assortment of household items – socks, mail, magazines, rugs, TV remotes, coffee tables… even the baseboards around our dining room. Upon returning home, we always took a deep breath before opening the front door, unsure of what carnage would greet us.
When I started the contest, I was expecting to get some funny stories of dogs being mischievous like ours. And I did get those, but I also received the most heart-warming stories of people showing deep devotion to their pets despite some really difficult circumstances – expensive and time-consuming medical issues, deep phobias and more. While it would have been easy to give up on these animals, I read story after story of people making huge sacrifices for their pets, without hesitation, and demonstrating the true meaning of Unconditional Love.
I loved my little house, but I loved Kenny more. After 36 years as an urban dweller, I made the drive across the border to New Hampshire where land was affordable… I missed being in the city but I loved seeing Kenny and Jenny happy so much more.Nothing explains it better than our previous winners and their pets. Grab some tissues, and then read the stories of Kenny, Kelham, Rome, and Murphie.
If you think you have a story of Unconditional Love, please email your story, a picture of your pet (feel free to include pictures of the damage they’ve caused!) and contact information to email@example.com. Entries are due by 5pm ET, Friday, March 1. The winner will receive a free FidoJournalism Pet Photography session and a framed 11×14 print.
Follow us on Facebook for contest updates and help us spread the word! We can’t wait to read your stories!
